Welcome to The Happy Pi

I am Robin, a private tutor located north of St. Paul, Minnesota. I usually tutor math, because so many students struggle, but I can do other subjects as well. For in-person tutoring, you will need to be close enough for the drive, but I can work online with anyone, anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does your tutoring program work?

I am happiest when I can see some work ahead of time that is a stumbling block. Once I see where the potholes are, I can bring materials to fill them in. I will make recommendations as to the frequency and direction of sessions, but this is ultimately your child, and you will make the final decision.

What qualifications do you have?

Many years ago I ran a one-room school for K-12. After a couple of years, I switched to just homeschooling my own six children--who were, coincidentally, kindergarten through 12th grade that year. Three graduated college, one with straight As: one with a double Honors major, and one with a job a company had held for him for a year.

Have you had any experience with learning disabilities?

Yes, one of my own is autistic, and I have worked with several other delightful, unique kids on the spectrum. I have also worked with ODD, dyscalculia, callosal agenesis, and other issues.

Services

Math

Individualized instruction to get your student through their class, their midterm, or next year. Pre-K through 12th grade.

Language Arts

Whether pre-reading is a concern, or creative writing is intimidating, or if there's any other language arts issue looming, I can make it fun instead of stressful.

Special Education

If your child needs support in any subject at all, I'm glad to help.

And more

If you need help with ANY subject, ask! I might be able to help there, too. I've done some tutoring in science, art history, geography, driver's education, Spanish, and Hebrew. Math is my bread and butter, but I enjoy working in any subject.
